Returns and Dispute Policy

Last Updated: February 2026

1. Nature of the Exchange

MTG Tradepost South Africa facilitates a barter-based exchange of collectable assets. Since no monetary payment is exchanged between users for the assets themselves, traditional "refunds" do not apply. All swaps finalised through the "Confirm Receipt" protocol are considered final and permanent.

2. The "Escrow" Period

A trade is considered "In Escrow" from the moment both parties pay the logistics fees until both parties click "Confirm Receipt" on their respective dashboards. During this period:

  • The cards are digitally locked to the trade.

  • Ownership has not yet transferred in the MTG Tradepost database.

  • Fees paid to MTG Tradepost are held pending successful delivery.

3. Grounds for Trade Reversal (Disputes)

A user may initiate a dispute and request a trade reversal if:

  • Condition Mismatch: The card received is in a significantly worse condition than described in the listing and shown in the "Photo Request" logs.

  • Authenticity Issues: There is a reasonable suspicion that the card received is not an authentic Magic: The Gathering product.

  • Incomplete Shipment: The package arrives with missing assets that were part of the accepted trade manifest.

4. The Dispute Process

If a user is unsatisfied with the arrival of the assets:

1. DO NOT click "Confirm Receipt." Clicking this button signals to the Vault that the trade is perfect and finalises the ownership swap.

2. Initiate Dispute: Contact MTG Tradepost Support within 48 hours of the courier delivery timestamp.

3. Evidence Review: Our team will review the "Photo Request" timestamps (pre-shipment) against photos provided of the received items.

4. Resolution: If the dispute is upheld, the trade is cancelled. The digital ownership remains with the original owners, and the platform will facilitate the return shipping of the items.

5. Return Shipping

In the event of a justified trade reversal:

  • The party found to be at fault (e.g., the user who sent a damaged or fake card) will be liable for the costs of shipping the assets back to their original owners.

  • Failure to return assets during a reversal is considered a breach of our Acceptable Use Policy and will result in a permanent ban and potential legal action.

6. Non-Returnable Items

Once the "Confirm Receipt" button is clicked by both parties, the Vault is sealed. No returns, reversals, or disputes will be entertained after this point, as the digital ownership transfer is complete and the "Escrow" period has ended.
